Recovery and growth of viable S. aureus during 5 h incubation in DEB. Gemini™ swatches were inoculated with 2.5 × 107S. aureus, washed with either a  water or b sanitizer for 10 min, and transferred to DEB for 5 h. Aliquots of the cultures were plated on TSA at 0, 30, 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 min after transfer to DEB. The number of viable cells recovered from the swatches is shown. The experiment was repeated three times, three replicate swatches per experiment, and standard deviation is shown
